Harem fics.
I HATE harem fics! They’re just excuses for an author to disguise self-insert as a cannon. Usually they have the female character having sex randomnly with every male character. There’s NO plot! Things such as ’she’s traumatized and needs to get fucked to get over it’ or ’magic spells’ or ’drugs’ or some other bullshit WILL make me flame your ass. Every single chapter usually has the cannon ’sex diva’ screwing a different character and guess what... NO ONE REFUSES her. I’ve read only ONE harem fic worthy of me praising it and it was an original fic, NOT A FANFIC and I liked it because it was realistic and the lead character ended up suffering the consequences for it, unlike fanfics that glorify the non-sexual character into a ’talented virginal sex goddess’. GOD! It makes me sick to see how a ’virgin’ ends up giving killer oral and doing hand stands on the first shot without showing that she HAD to learn how to do it! It’s so annoying! A love triangle is alright or a threeway fic, but a HAREM! I don’t think so. Don’t suggest me to EVER read one of those (I especially hate authors that don’t state in their summaries that it’s a cannon-centric harem. I have a rule about reviewing EVERYTHING I read and when I see that shit, I just straight up flame it. Call me a bitch, but the stupidity has to end sometime. I really despise this pointless genre)
POVs in first person.
I like fics that show different sides of the story and what everyone is thinking, so seeing it only from one POV throughout the fic, bores me. Usually people do this with OCs and I’m sad to say that if it’s in first person I just can’t read it. Its hard for me to follow and its annoying.
One chapter hacked up into a couple of chapters:
Like those chaps that are only 600 words each and when the story it’s done with a whopping 10 chapters, it ends up being the events of ONE day all jammed into 5000 words. I know people are desperate for reviews, but geez!
Stating POVs in every scene change:
It throws me off.
Review whoring:
How much bad fiction out there has hundreds of reviews because of these pathetic people? I hate it as much as ’review polls’. It’s just a ploy for the author to get more reviews. It shows all the signs of a suckass writer too.
Bad grammar:
Not just a couple of words, but the WHOLE fic is written badly? I don’t think I can handle it. I would read it if people just asked me for pointers (I try to be nice about it). Some badly written fics are actually good ideas, so I try to be considerate when it comes to that.
Overwhelmingly beautiful OCs:
I created one of those for Bleach and after I read my work, I wanted to kill, burn her and scatter her ashes across the universe just to get her the hell away from me. If I see that someone gives her a curvacious body, beautiful face, beautiful singing voice, a great dancer, attracts everybody, I’ll puke all over my keyboard.
Summaries that say ’I suck at summaries, but the story is GOOD’:
You can’t write a summary, but can write a good story? That doesn’t make much sense.
Making Non-Violent Characters into Rapists:
I’ll admit to liking some rape fics, but seeing some characters OCC’d pisses me off.
Girlish Ukes:
It’s a GUY! Don’t make him into a girl! You make it sound like het with an useless sex-change. Don’t even think of suggesting MPreg.
Tragic Sues:
No matter how much you make them suffer, it’s still a Mary Sue/Gary Stu.
Character’s love at first sight:
Talk about losing a plot. Characters falling in love after seeing each other a couple of times and having them warming up to each other on the first day, proves what an uncreative idiot you are. Its worse when the character ALREADY LOVES the other character. It makes the fic far too predictable to me.
Boy/Girl Incest:
I’ll accept yaoi or yuri (I’m weird), but Boy/Girl? I don’t know... I really hate the father/daughter or mother/son ones too. That’s even sicker.
Sudden Angst:
Seeing a character shouting out of nowhere when the situation doesn’t call for it... Gah!
Making Cannon-Sues:
I already know what Kagome fucking looks like. You don’t need to tell me how GORGEOUS she is in every chapter with 300 words describing her. It’s repetitive.
Author’s Comparing themselves to a character even if its cannon:
I stopped reading a Haru-Centric fic when the author said in the first chapter that she had the same zodiac sign, haircut and liked dressing in boys clothes like Haruhi. I made me ill, mostly when Haruhi’s description delved into how ’beautiful’ and ’how all the boys loved her’. Other than that, Haruhi’s attitude was completely off; having her blushing and stammering every time the boys gushed at her ’cuteness’. SELF-INSERT!
OCs that have the same penname as the author.
OC character list:
If I want to get to know someone new, I don’t want a fucking ’guide’ telling me everything about them before reading a fic with them in it.
Character Bashing:
I do hate some characters, but I never bash them in my fics because I hate seeing other writers doing that. It’s OCCs cannons to the core and has no artistic value whatsoever. (though some of them are fun to read... *blushes* Too many authors have overused some female characters in smaller fandoms making me start HATING them with a passion. So I can’t say I really blame some authors for getting a kick out of it of torturing cannon-sues. Same-female-leading-ladies are irritating to see everytime you search for fanfiction. NO VARIETY!)
OCs with unique names or obvious names from another fandom. Names like Saya, Kagome EVEN Sadako etc.:
If you’re too lazy to look up a name in a search engine, don’t fucking write it. It shows how little drive you have in writing a fic if you prove you didn’t do any research for it.
Crossovers:
I don’t want to go into another rant. They’re generally pretty fucking awful.
OC Adventure:
Stuff like ’So-SO dies and goes to the Soul Society. Read of his adventures with the Shinigami!’ Never shows actual characters from the show/manga, merely centers on the author’s fantasy, doesn’t have a plot, full of randomness... Blah! OCs are everywhere in these fics, so don’t expect to see your fave cannon chars in them.
PWP:
Porn Without Plot. Most of these are really BAD. I do read them only if they’re done well enough to make me pass out.
The word pussy:
I write hardcore smut, but seeing someone calling a girl’s vagina a pussy, makes it vulgar to me.
You Fics:
All the ’yous’ in those fics make me light-headed. Plus, if I were in situations such as a ’you fic’ I wouldn’t be as hormonal and STUPID. Real-life romance just doesn’t work that easily.
Vampire fics.
Incubus/Succubus fics.
Most AU.
OCs living through the same things as Cannon:
If you can’t make up ’new situations’, don’t write it. How many characters have I seen getting licked on the face by Kaoru or getting saved from Grimmjow by Ichigo in Hueco Mundo? Don’t get started with girls that fall down the well before Kagome and end up living the same things with Inuyasha that Kagome did. Then there’s the boyish female OC become a crossdressing Host (plenty of those)
